This has happened a couple of times this week - trying to open a pages document and it fails with message " can't be opened right now Pages couldn't read the file. You can try restoring to a previous version
Time machine doesn't seem to have any previous versions
Any suggestions? Thanks

Ensure that your Pages document is on your local startup drive in your account.
Reboot your Mac, and see if Pages will then open the document. If the problem persists, boot into Safe Boot mode, test Pages again with this document, and then reboot normally, again testing Pages with this same document.
Safe boot mode is performing some other tasks during its boot process so it will be much slower than a normal boot.
Show more LessPages 12.1 on M1 MacBook Air won't open Pages '09 documents When I try to open my Pages '09 templates with Pages 12.1 on my M1 MacBook Air, I get an error message that says "Untitled" can't be opened right now. Pages couldn't read the file. " The weird thing is that if I highlight the file in Finder and press the space bar, it gives me a preview of the file. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Cannot update pages!! Please help! I cannot open a file that was shared with me as it was produced on a newer version of pages. I have accessed the app store and clicked the update button. Once clicked the button greys out and a loading wheel appears after that nothing happens, I have left it for a number of hours in the hope that it just needed a bit of time but nothing has happened. I have restarted my computer and tried these steps a number of times. My MacBook Pro is running the latest version of OS X El Capitan (Version 10.11.16) I have 63.74 GB free of 249.78 GB I have attached a screenshot of the app store pages once I have clicked the update button. Pages error I recently experienced a Pages error "The document 'document name' cannot be opened." My MacBook Air is running Catalina 10.15.1 Any ideas?
