Order an Apostille

An apostille certifies that a document is a true copy of the original. Official documents that will be used outside of the United States often require an apostille.

How to get an apostille

To request an apostille on your IU Southeast transcript

  1. Complete the transcript apostille request form and directions at IU Transcripts
  2. Include a pre-addressed, postage-paid envelope (U.S. Postal Service or FedEx).
  3. Follow the instructions for submitting the form.

Note that it will take two to five business days to process your request, so plan ahead. Processing a document with an apostille takes extra time because it must be sent to the Indiana Secretary of State before it can be delivered.

To request an apostille on your IU Southeast diploma

  1. Ensure you have a physical, printed copy of your diploma. If not, request a duplicate diploma.
  2. Once you have the printed diploma in hand, request an Apostille Diploma Request Appointment by emailing sesc@iu.edu.
  3. Once the registrar’s office completes the notarized certification of authenticity, the student must forward a notarized document to the Indiana Secretary of State for apostille authentication.
